Green Hotel Certification

We are committed to preserving our values and treating nature and our entire environment with care. Our initiatives include, among other things, generating solar power, conserving electricity in our hotel and restaurant operations, and operating our own on-site wastewater treatment plant. Through these measures, we aim to use energy, water, and resources more responsibly in our day-to-day operations.

Since 2011 , the Hotel Linslerhof has held the title “Certified Green Hotel.” As a conference hotel , the Linslerhof is among the business hotels that meet the requirements of the German Travel Management Association (VDR). The Linslerhof has held the “Certified Green Hotel” designation since 2011. The certification covers measures in the areas of energy efficiency, resource conservation, regional sourcing, and environmentally conscious operations.

Energy

With our ground-mounted photovoltaic system, we generate solar power for our own use and for feeding into the regional grid. In 2025, 50 million kWh of solar power were produced; this is equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 20,000 households.

E-mobility

Hotel guests can charge their electric vehicles at two 22-kW wall boxes. The charging power is significantly higher than that of a standard household outlet.

Bees

On our farm, we promote habitats for bees—including a wildflower meadow and our own bee colonies, which produce delicious Linslerhof honey. (Available at the front desk.)

Water

The farm’s own wastewater treatment plant biologically treats the wastewater before it is returned to the water cycle, thereby supporting a controlled and resource-efficient approach to wastewater management on the estate.

Drinks

As an alternative to a minibar in the room, our “Roter Salon” is a 24-hour self-service bar. You are welcome to leave drinks for cooling at reception.

Gastronomy

Our restaurant prefers to work with suppliers from the Saarland and the surrounding region. We take seasonality and availability into account when selecting our suppliers. We offer Mosel wine from the Saarland, a selection of Demeter wines (subject to availability), as well as local schnapps and beer. Our coffee, espresso, and chocolate are made from Fairtrade- and organic-certified products. We regularly review the products we use with our suppliers. Induction cooktops are primarily used in the kitchen. Food scraps are reused whenever possible (e.g., vegetable and meat trimmings for stocks and soups), and waste is sorted and collected separately. By eliminating split shifts, we are reducing the number of extra trips our employees have to make as part of their daily work routine.

Modern agricultural management at Linslerhof

Agriculture and livestock farming characterize the long history of the Linslerhof. Pigs, cattle and horses found their place in the spacious stables and grain, rapeseed and potatoes were grown in the fields.
The passionate farmer Ewald Meyer has now been successfully managing the fields and the equestrian farm with its more than 50 horse boxes and the many surrounding paddocks as a service provider for more than 35 years.

Rye, barley, corn, and canola are grown on the estate’s 130 hectares of farmland. As an essential part of modern agricultural management, the types of crops grown are rotated every three years to support soil fertility and reduce the one-sided strain on individual plots. Hay and straw are harvested from an additional 130 hectares of the estate’s own land, allowing them to be used at the riding facility without having to travel long distances.

Certified Green Hotel

Our hotel is certified as a Green Hotel. The certification evaluates, among other things, measures in the areas of energy efficiency, resource conservation, and regional sourcing. We use LED lighting, select cleaning products, and—depending on availability—regional and certified organic products in our food service operations. We are implementing measures to use energy and resources more responsibly in our hotel and restaurant operations.

Drinking water

Please use the water bottles in your room to fill them yourself with our low-calcium drinking water. Mineral water is available at the front desk.

Light

We use energy-efficient LED light bulbs throughout the hotel. Please turn off the lights when you leave your room.

Heat

In cold temperatures, we ask you to close the windows after airing and when you leave the room.

Cleaning

We use select cleaning products and take care to use them sparingly. In addition, for stays of more than one night, we clean your room every three days and change the bed linens and towels accordingly.
