Come into the parlor!

Cozy hours in the Upper Bavarian farmhouse
When winter shows its uncomfortable side, the best way to celebrate life is indoors. Here in the historic farmhouse in the middle of Upper Bavaria, people get together during the cold days, enjoy the good food of the region in a cozy atmosphere and look forward to the first heralds of spring that have found their way into this historic ambience.

In a Bavarian farmhouse, a hearty breakfast with fresh pretzels and boiled eggs is of course a must. The table is set with rustic ceramics in blue and white and brown pottery. As a small springtime greeting, the double tulips with their sunny yellow flowers provide a cheerful start to the day. The white bellis on the windowsill, on the other hand, cannot fade – they are works of art with a deceptively real effect. The rustic wooden walls of the old farmhouse become a natural backdrop for the hyacinth decorations. The blue spring bloomers and their bulbs stand in shimmering green glass containers. And you have to look very closely to realize that these plants are not made by nature, but by hand.

Creaky floorboards and wooden doors and a little rustic charm here and there – idyllically nestled in the landscape of the Alpine foothills, the cottage is the perfect place to take a break from everyday stress and the hustle and bustle of city life. And it’s not just for city dwellers that these rural retreats are now more than ever the ideal of pristine living. Because if the icy wind is still whistling across the countryside outside, the quiet days here in front of the tiled stove give you a feeling of a perfect world. After a long winter walk through the forest, there is nothing more tempting than a hot bath. Especially when the ambience is as inviting as here in the farmhouse.

The bathroom with its soft rose-colored walls, light wooden floorboards and white textiles offers ideal conditions for soaking and relaxing in the nostalgic enamel bathtub. And to appeal to all the senses, candles and a bouquet of white, fragrant tercets are a must.Summary from “Brigitte von Boch Living 01/2014”
